Cost Of Hair Transplant Surgery

As a victim of hair loss, I have considered hair transplantation at least once in my lifetime. While this procedure is the most effective treatment option available, it has a few disadvantages, as well. One of the biggest issues that individuals face when considering this treatment is the costly medical expenses. Not only are you expected to pay for the medical supplies and rendered treatment, but you must pay the surgeon’s fees. So what is the cost of hair transplant surgery?

Per-Graft Fees

In order for surgeons to get the most out of their clients, they charge a per-graft fee. Each graft will cost anywhere from $3-$10, which does not seem like a large expense. When you consider the extent of your hair loss, the expense will add up very quickly. My bald patch was getting larger by the day, so I knew that I would have to contemplate the cost of hair transplant surgery and examine my financial situation first.

Failing Grafts

The hair graft procedure is very time consuming and may require several visits to the clinic, before the hair transplantation reaches completion. One of the biggest defeats that many clients experience is failing grafts. If the hair graft does not successfully attach to the scalp, it will not grow. Unfortunately, when this occurs, the client will be faced with a financial loss. The surgeon may encourage you to undergo the procedure again, which basically means that these expenses will continue to add up.Cost Of Hair Transplant

Never Ending Process

One of the most important factors that revolves around hair transplantation is it can be a never ending process. Once the hair transplantation procedure reaches completion, the client may still continue to experience hair loss. There is no way to guarantee that this will not happen, which makes one think if this really is a permanent solution or not. Additional hair grafts and treatments may be required to keep up with your hair loss, so is the cost of hair transplant surgery worth it?

Cosmetic Surgery

One would think that healthcare insurance would cover the expenses of hair transplantation. Well, think again, because most insurance providers consider it to be an elective procedure, which is not covered under most healthcare plans. This meant that I was going to have to pay out of pocket for these expenses and I did not think that I could actually afford it.

Length of the Procedure

For a client that is suffering from a mild case of alopecia, you can expect to spend 4-6 hours in the procedure room. This cannot be said about severe alopecia, because it may take anywhere from 8-10 hours or longer in some cases. You may even have to schedule several appointments in advance, just to complete the transplant and this is not to mention potential complications.

What is the average cost of hair transplant?

If you are considering hair transplantation, you must factor in all of the expenses, time, and pain associated with the procedure. How much is the average cost? Depends on so many factors. I sat down and devised a financial budget for this advanced technique, but unfortunately the expenses where way out of my reach. I must admit that I began to explore cheaper alternatives and found this great video very helpful.
